An Interview with Monica

For this week I'm proudly delivering you a long overdue Interview of an Editor whose presence has been continuously ongoing within the JJ Community for the past 2 years! This particular editor is not only known for her immaculate daily JJ features, but more importantly happens to be a one of a kind “Storyteller” when it comes down to her own photographs from her personal gallery!
So who is our Top-Priority JJ Editor for this week’s spotlight? Yes! We’ve got Monica Silva ( @mrs612mlt / @jj_editor_monicas_ ) for an exclusive interview!
Monica Silva, a Texan lady who also happens to be a Mom to a wonderful kid has gladly opened up her personal story for you to see the behind the scenes of the life of a JJ Editor who already has graced us with over 8000 daily features since 2014!

By now I’m sure all of you guys know Monica’s brilliant Editing talents quite well, So why don’t we have a peek at her personal life before we go back to the Photography related stuff?
Hmm… I’ve been closely following Monica’s personal gallery since 2 years ago and if there’s one thing that I could talk endlessly about her is the efforts that she has always put to showcase her photographs in the best possible way!
Now, I’m not talking about Exotic photography skills, but instead her photos are dearly tangible as if you are actually participating within a crop of her life throughout those photographs! So how does she manage to do that? Ha! Her secret recipe is quite straightforward… A camera to shot photos with, A lively and funny a little guy as the photo model in her photographs and A dearly honest heart to write down the best ever Stories you could read in the entire Instagram as “Photo Captions”!
So who is the tiny guy that happens to be the center of attention on Monica’s photographs? Yes, it’s her own beloved child & the sole incentive which lead Monica to join Instagram in the first place! But unfortunately things wasn’t that rosy on the beginning, sadly Monica’s son was born with a rare disease called “Congenital Hyperthyroidism” (happens in every 1 child out of 4000 new born infants!)
This critical condition lead her son to have huge amount of Thyroid Hormone loss, but thankfully things are all under the control due to having ongoing treatments. So all in all I’m sure those heartbreaking bits made Monica to embrace the concept of Life more than any of us here and that’s probably why she has entirely devoted her Gallery to the growth of her son captured in the form of Photographs like no other!
Now I urge you all to visit Monica’s personal gallery and I’m sure you’d not only be amazed by looking at her photographs but surely after reading each and every “Caption” that she tastefully has provided for all of her photos too! Each photograph comes with a unique story to its booth; she unravels stories of her son in between those words which makes you eagerly follow their glorious life with a full heart! (I shall confess I quite envy Monica’s son! When he grows up he has a fantastic resource to look back and see what a fantastic & caring mom he’s been blessed at!)
Alright, Now let’s hop back to Monica’s unique Editing capabilities that made her a dear Editor within the JJ Community. As I said Monica has been a JJ Editor since 2014 and so far has selected over 8000 features on daily basis! I Asked what are her priorities when it comes to selecting photos and she told me she always starts browsing submissions from the oldest tagged photos for daily themes, thus she keeps an eye to the photos that might be overlooked by other JJ Editors, that way she patiently looks and finds the best nominees onwards! She told me she spends an hour or two on the days that she Edits and within that period she tries her best to make sure to highlight the work of the photographers in the best possible way!
Monica also mentioned “Art” has always played a great deal in her life, thus being an editor made her to come back on the right track again, that’s why she confesses she “loves” being an editor as it gives her the chance to perceive how others see the world and being able to have the power to embrace their work by featuring photos for the JJ Community! Moreover Monica says she particularly is fond of the photos which carry a certain degree of story-telling within their hidden layers!
I asked Monica what “JJ Community” means to her and she told me she hugely values the concept of community for the fact that it made possible for everyone to find an avenue to submit their works at, She also adds if such community was not around those same people might have never been attracted to Photography and Social media as much as they are into it now.
Monica also said JJ Community made it possible for everyone to bridge between Cultural gaps and to cross Physical Distances in order to participate in a tangible creative space to share talents like no other!
