Ok! For starters I’m sure many of you have already felt the BIG change going on for this Interview! YES… We have a “Male” JJ Editor all set up for this month’s edition!
Now I kindly invite you to look over the previous JJ Editor Interviews and you’ll quickly find out most of our JJ Editor Team is consisted from fantastic ladies from all over the world who without out a doubt are doing a fantastic hell of a job every day in order to select the most tasteful features out of the huge pool of daily theme submissions! But then again who can deny the absolute presence of our male JJ Editors too?! Ever imagined a day without @jj_editor_nselmo's stunning features? Or who can disagree with the timely features from our ever-glorious @jj_editor_instafraner? Yes! I hope by now you guys have felt such diversity is in fact the beauty of the JJ Community like no other!
So why don’t we get back to the sizzling content of this month’s interview? Ahem, Ahem! We have Mr. Richard Shaw ( @sunmadcat / @jj_editor_ricshaw ) otherwise known as “Mr. JJ Doors & Windows” or “Mr. JJ Urbex”! Yes… We have a man of multi talents lined up for an Exclusive JJ Editor Interview!
So without further ado let’s delve in to get to know this fantastic guy a bit better now!
Richard, who likes to be called as “Ric”, joined Instagram back in 2012 and undoubtedly by looking at his glorious JJ Resume you can clearly see his love for this social network grew bigger as time passed by! He says a friend introduced him to the world of Instagram and soon after another friend let him know about JJ Community’s daily challenges.
Ric recalls soon after following JJ Community he become mesmerized by @JoshJohnson's feed, thus he found it as a perfect example of a very active and alive social community like no other! Perhaps that made Ric motivated enough on creating such successful JJ Anarchy Groups down the road!
But why don’t we get to know a bit about Ric’s personal dimensions before we go back to the serious photography stuff? Initially Ric was residing in SoCal with 3 kids from his first marriage, but sometime later he found true love after making a relationship with Denise ( @deniseshaw2 ) ! Ric says back in the day, he and Denise went to the same school but never knew each other not after three long decades! The 30th Anniversary of their school brought up this wonderful chance for both of them to finally get acquainted and ultimately lead them to get married to start a brand new life for Ric that now has moved all the way north to the Sacramento City!
As for Education, Ric acquired the Landscape Architecture Design degree from the Cal Poly SLO and worked in the same field for many years afterwards, but the 2005 House market crash made Ric to think twice, resulting to re-draw his lifestyle by trying to help others at his main priority! Ric began working in a local Autism center by teaching basic life skills to the Autistic children! Without a doubt it reveals the sheer amount of Patience and Unconditional Love flowing in Ric’s veins! Ric confesses working with such children is indeed a rewarding process and it gives him great powers to cherish the concept of our lives which unfortunately is often overlooked by other people!
Ric reveals photography has always been present in his life, he recalls doing photography back in 1960s on likes of Kodak Instamatic & Polaroid cameras! Later on he started to learn SLR photography and learnt to develop analogue films in Dark Rooms as well! As years progressed, he started to learn digital arts and ultimately doing DSLR / Mobile Photography and sharing them onto social networks such as IG seemed to perfectly sum up his endless passion and desires upon the concept of Photography! These days Ric uses his Canon Camera accompanied by a trusty Galaxy Note 5 as his main daily drivers to fulfill his ambitious photography desires!
Now I assume many of you are already acquainted with the unique style of photography that Ric publishes on his personal IG feed; A few years ago when I first laid my eyes Ric’s page I felt extremely puzzled! I was suddenly presented with a large number of unique photographs that no one would usually capture or share over the glittery world Instagram! Pictures of stranded, forgotten and broken stuff photographed right in the spots where they are left alone to be forgotten! I mean the concept of his photographs once again reminded me how once precious things can turn into worthless things in a relatively short period of time, and what can be done about the core concept of Recycling?!
There are loads of unwanted things around our lives that soon will pollute our world in the most saddening manner! & then from time to time Ric posts perfectly exaggerated macro photographs of Flowers to break the cycle between those Rusty and forgotten photographs! I personally love his Flower-themed macro shots as it reminds me there’s another world filled with Natural and alive elements waiting for us to be embraced and to be taken care of! All in all, I urge you all to have a look at Ric’s personal feed! You won’t be disappointed at all!
And if you wonder how Ric describes himself as a Human and as a Photographer you should probably read the next few words to know this guy a bit better… Ric says that he believes in treating others as the way he likes to be treated! He says being kind and generous are the two things that he always likes to preach and to implement in order to have a better life. Ric says his influences on photography are Ansel Adams (due to his outstanding black and white landscapes), Robert Kinkad (due to his beautiful portrayal of realistic photographs) & Georgia O’Keeffe (due to her absolutely fascinating macro shots).
As for the final set of questions, I Asked Ric how see forecasts the future of Instagram and how he evaluates the JJ Community and his Editorial duties. Ric replied back he has been continuously active in Instagram and he has witnessed how this particular cellphone application has evolved from a privately owned small hub for photographers into a full blown commercialized social media like no other!
Ric says thanks to Instagram, JJ Community and his editorial duties he is now aware of so different cultures from all over the world, more importantly he enjoys communicating with people and making friends from all around the world effortlessly! He says he feels our world suddenly turned into a much smaller place with friendlier people connected with each other like no other! Finally, like many of our other JJ Editors, Ric confirms being a JJ Editor has brought him the powers to make other people happy and to ultimately turn himself into a more kinder and generous human!
